Why Chicken Wire Art?

How does an artist choose what they are going to present to the public? The show can be based on history, creative impulse, detached meanings, or even thematic appeals. This choice is not an easy one. After working in the art field through out my bachelors and teaching art for the past seven years I never found one niche that I like enough to hold my concentration.
My art developed more out of laughter and a creative impulse than anything predetermined. Working in traditional two-dimensional mediums my art was less then impressive. They were more replicas that lacked the “wow” factor. Up until one dinner in which my husband, a six-foot five cowboy, made a more then aggressive statement at the dinner table. This statement was simple and it ignited my imagination. “What’s with the chicken?”
The spark took me directly to the workshop, searching for chicken anything, and wire was the first thing that I got my hands on. I wanted to make the iconic symbol for a cowboy, his saddle. I could have never foreseen the pain and monotony that I was taking on in the creative process.
The best part of finding a unique niche is that it leaves a “wow” impression on people.  What is the “wow” impression? People asking how, why, and their eyes looking again and again never finding satisfaction, just amazement.  When an artist finds something that truly does what they are meaning, there is a sense of accomplishment and an adrenaline rush for the creative process.

Thank you!!!

Thank you to all of those who attended. What an amazing turn out.

What a Hit!

The gallery show was amazing! What an experience. I loved watching people check out the art! Listen to their comments, and it was a little ego boost when people had to wait to get to the pieces cause the place was packed elbow to elbow.

The shadows casted from the pieces are better then I ever imagined.  Can wait for the opening night, this Friday.  The food is going to be wonderful, a little country and a little chocolate.  Live music and just the right lighting. See you all there! And for those who aren't able to make it we will be posting pictures, and thank you for all of the wonderful support.
